🌷 Truth, Grace & Speaking With Care 🌷
a little reminder for our words today
Hi friend! 💛 Have you ever said something true... but it still came out feeling kind of harsh? Or maybe you stayed quiet just to "keep the peace," and it felt like you were hiding something important?
I think a lot about how to hold truth and grace together — like two hands cupped around a candle, protecting the flame without smothering it. Today let's talk about why our words matter so much, and how God invites us to speak both honestly and gently.
🕊️ Truth Matters
God isn't a fan of fudging the facts or sweet little lies. He cares about honesty, even when it's uncomfortable.
"Wherefore put away lying, and speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another."
— Ephesians 4:25 (KJV)
"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him... A false witness that speaketh lies."
— Proverbs 6:16,19 (KJV)
Truth isn't optional — it's part of how we reflect God's own character. 🌼
🌸 But Truth Needs Grace
Here's the thing though — truth without kindness can turn into a weapon. That's not what God wants from us! He wants truth wrapped in love.
"Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."
— Colossians 4:6 (KJV)
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."
— Proverbs 25:11 (KJV)
Isn't that such a pretty picture? Like our words can be little golden apples — beautiful and nourishing. 🍏✨
💬 Speaking With Care
This is where it all comes together. We're not called to choose between being truthful or being kind — we get to be both.
"Speaking the truth in love..."
— Ephesians 4:15 (KJV)
"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."
— Proverbs 15:1 (KJV)
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
— Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)
So before we speak, maybe we can pause and ask:
- 🌷 Is this true?
- 🌷 Is this kind?
- 🌷 Will this build up, or tear down?
Such a tiny pause, but it can change everything. 🤍
🌿 A Little Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for being a God of both truth and grace. Help me to speak honestly, without fear, but also gently, without harshness. Put a guard over my mouth and a kindness in my heart. When I'm tempted to stretch the truth, give me courage to be honest. When I'm tempted to be sharp or careless, give me grace to be soft. Let my words be like apples of gold — true, beautiful, and good for the people who hear them. May everything I say point others back to You.
In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏🌼
Thanks for reading, friend! Go speak some truth today — with a whole lot of grace. 💛
