Letting Go and Letting God

🕊️
♡ ♡ ♡

There comes a moment in almost every life when we’ve done all we can. We’ve prayed, planned, worried, and tried to fix what’s broken, and the situation still hasn’t changed. If you’re in that place today, take a breath. You were never meant to carry this alone.

🌱 Trusting Instead of Gripping

Holding tight to a problem can feel like responsibility, as if letting go means we don’t care. But letting go is not giving up. It is placing the matter into the hands of Someone far more capable than ours.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV

Notice that it says lean not unto thine own understanding. Our understanding is limited. We see one corner of the picture, while God sees the whole canvas.

“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”Psalm 37:5, KJV

To commit something is to hand it over completely. Not half, not “until I get nervous again,” but fully, and then to rest.

☁️ Casting Your Cares

Anxiety has a way of making us believe that worrying is productive. Scripture offers us a gentler invitation:

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”1 Peter 5:7, KJV

He careth for you. That is the reason we can let go. God is not a distant judge waiting to see if we manage. He is a Father who wants to carry what is too heavy for us.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:6-7, KJV

That peace is not the result of everything going our way. It is a peace that “passeth all understanding,” which settles over us even while circumstances remain unresolved.

🌿 Be Still

“The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”Exodus 14:14, KJV
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”Psalm 46:10, KJV

Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is be still. When the Israelites stood trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the sea, they couldn’t see a way forward, and God made one.

💌 When Others Wrong Us

Perhaps your situation involves someone who hurt you, lied about you, or even scoffed at your faith. Our instinct is to defend ourselves or get even, but Scripture invites us to release that burden too:

“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”Romans 12:19, KJV

Letting God handle it means we don’t have to carry bitterness. We can lay it down.

🌸 A Gentle Word About the Consequences of Mocking God

Because this question often comes up, it is worth speaking about plainly, but with compassion. The Bible is clear that mocking God is not a small matter to Him:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”Galatians 6:7, KJV
“Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.”Proverbs 19:29, KJV
“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.”Psalm 2:4, KJV
“He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.”Proverbs 29:1, KJV

In the opening chapter of Proverbs, Wisdom herself calls out to those who refuse to listen:

“Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded... I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh.”Proverbs 1:24, 26, KJV

The consequences Scripture describes are real. Those who scorn God and harden their hearts are, in time, reaping what they have sown.

But please hear the heart behind these verses. God takes no pleasure in anyone’s downfall. He is patient and tender toward even His fiercest critics:

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”2 Peter 3:9, KJV

So when someone mocks your faith, you don’t need to retaliate or keep score. Jesus gave us a better way:

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”Matthew 5:44, KJV

Pray for them. The same grace that holds you can reach them, and the door of repentance stays open as long as there is breath.

🌙 Rest in Him

If you’re holding something heavy today, a diagnosis, a broken relationship, a financial burden, a wayward child, or a wound that won’t heal, consider this your gentle permission to set it down. God is not surprised by your situation, and He is not overwhelmed by it.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28, KJV

Let go, and let Him carry it. ♡

🙏 A Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I come to You tired of carrying what was never mine to carry. I lay down my worries, my plans, my hurts, and my need to control the outcome. Forgive me for the times I leaned on my own understanding instead of trusting You.

Teach me to be still and to know that You are God. Where I’ve been wronged, take the bitterness from my heart and help me release it to You. Where others scorn You, give me grace to respond with love and to pray for them, that they too might know Your mercy and turn to You.

Fill me with Your peace that passeth all understanding. I trust that You are working even when I cannot see it, and that You care for me.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I pray.

Amen. ✨
