Amazing Grace
Unearned, Unlimited, Unfailing
There is a word in Scripture that carries the weight of the entire gospel in a single syllable: grace. It is the reason we can approach God at all, and it is the foundation of everything we receive from Him — not because we deserve it, but because He freely gives it.
🎁 Grace Is a Gift, Not a Wage
Paul makes this distinction as clearly as anywhere in the Bible:
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
— Ephesians 2:8–9 (KJV)
Notice the careful wording — "not of yourselves," "not of works." Salvation isn't a payment for good behavior. It's a gift handed to us, fully paid for by another. Nothing we do earns it, and nothing we fail to do can disqualify us from receiving it once it is given.
🌾 Grace Meets Us in Our Weakness
Grace isn't reserved for those who have it all together. In fact, Scripture teaches the opposite — grace is most evident exactly where we are weakest:
"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
— 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
This is a radical reversal of how the world thinks. We tend to hide our weaknesses. God says His grace shows up best there, doing what our own strength never could.
🌊 Grace Upon Grace
John describes the abundance of what we receive through Christ in a beautiful, layered phrase:
"And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace."
— John 1:16 (KJV)
Grace isn't rationed out sparingly. It flows continuously — one wave of grace after another, enough for every season, every failure, every need.
🌱 Grace Teaches Us How to Live
Grace is not a license to live carelessly. Paul explains that true grace actually shapes and disciplines the way we live:
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world."
— Titus 2:11–12 (KJV)
Far from giving us permission to sin, grace transforms our hearts so that we genuinely want to walk in a way that honors the One who gave it so freely.

A Closing Prayer
Father,
Thank You for Your grace — a gift I could never earn and never lose through my own effort. When I feel unworthy, remind me that grace was never about my worthiness in the first place. When I am weak, let Your strength be made perfect in me.
Teach me to receive Your grace fully, and to extend that same grace to others, just as freely as it was given to me.
